Kadayawan's Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan gathers cultural dance groups from all over the Philippines for them to thell the stories of their tribes, give thanks for a bountiful harvest and join in the revelry.
Each group's performance has a story to tell with each step they take and through the chants that the performers make. It is either a story of heroism, of folktales, of thanksgiving and of legends.
With each story comes the colorful costumes each tribe is identified with. Predominant colors are black, red and yellow.
This year's champion for the Open Category gets to bring home Php300,000 (US$6977) while the Davao-based category champion would get Php150,000 (US$3488).
More photos to be updated here as we post them on site at the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan on Saturday, August 19, 2011.
