The term "bida" in the Philippine context translates as the 'protagonist'. In action films they are practically superheroes as no bullet can withstand their bravery. In romantic films, they are the two hearts connected as one. In ABS-CBN, they are the loyal viewers who have brought us to where we are.

ABS-CBN recently launched Bida Kapamilya, a variety show that visits different parts of the country to bring joy and awareness to our kapamilyas nationwide. A way of thanking and giving back the love and support that viewers have given us.

Last February 26, Bida Kapamilya visited Davao City, the "Durian Capital of the Philippines". The NCCC Mall venue was jampacked as loyal fans eagerly waited for the show to begin. Things kicked off with the Supah Dance auditions from 1pm to 5pm. Hopefuls strutted their stuff under the watchful eyes of the adjudicators who witnessed in the displays that Pinoys can match dance talents move per move.

At exactly 6:30 pm, dance troupe G-force kicked up things with their superb kinetic onstage moves. The show was hosted by Kapamilya Mas Winner Ka! games master Rovic Cuasito, Nadia of MagTv na! Sadya Ta! and deejays from My Only Radio (MOR).

Gracing the event was Ms. Universe runner-up Venus Raj who thanked the city for its gracious hospitality and shared her wonderful experiences there. The audience also got into the act with lucky game participants going home with ABS-CBN merchandise.

The night also showcased the impressive talents of 1st Star Power Grand Winner Angeline Quinto with runners-up Akiko Solon of Cebu, K-La Rivera of Pampanga, Monica Sacay of Leyte and Davao's own Krissel Valdez.

After that beautiful number, the crowd roared its approval as the curvaceous Bangs Garcia stepped onstage and wowed everyone with her singing talent, particularly the guys in the audience.

As a fitting nightcap, Jed Madela, winner of the 2005 World Champion of the Performing Arts, serenaded his way to the hearts of Davaoenos and his voice lingering long after his last song.

The results were inevitable: ABS-CBN doing what it does best, delivering a show that leaves everyone happy, content and wanting more all at the same time.
