Christmas is so alive in Zamboanga City! Families and friends flock to the City Plaza every night to watch the lights at the well decorated City Hall. The lights somehow dance to the tune of Christmas carols with bubble machines accentuating every blink of the Christmas lights. The adjacent parks were also decorated with Christmas lanterns, lights and a huge nativity statue.
A Christmas Food Festival was also held last December 7-8, 2012 at Plaza del Pilar. There were food stalls offering a variety of appetizing cuisines and sweet treats to the delight of the visitors. We enjoyed our combo meal of arroz valenciana, kare-kare, crab, grilled fish, green mango and a slice of leche flan for dessert from Zamboanga City's Alavar Restaurant. Meals offered come in combo for only 150 pesos.
All of these were part of the "Pascua na Zamboanga Festival" to celebrate the yuletide season. Come to Zamboanga City this time of the year and experience the festive atmosphere in "Asia's Latin City"!
