Modeling runs through her veins as cat-walk newbie Danica Magpantay won the prestigious title of 2011 International Ford’s Supermodel of the World last January 22 in New York against 50 other contestants around the globe.
A 17 year old Fine Arts student from UP Diliman with her physique 5’9 tall and 109 lbs her exotic Pinay beauty tops other competing countries in the said pageant. Amongst the runners-up are: First runner-up was Lithuania, whose representative won a US$150,000 modeling contract while second runner-up, Poland, took home US$100,000. Representatives from Brazil and Poland rounded up the Top 5.
Ica most of her close friends called her won won a US$250,000 contract from the Eileen Ford Modeling Agency. It is believed be the fashion industry’s biggest prize for a model search.
Modeling is not all about the glitz and glamour, “Modeling really isn’t easy, because it’s also mentally taxing. You need to have the drive and the passion for it,” Ica shares in an interview.
Maturing on the business she added, “Modeling has taught me a lot about what work really entails and about valuing money, unlike before when I would only get my money from my parents. Now that I’m earning, I’ve learned how to handle my own money wisely.”
Making most out of everything, Magpantay told in an interview that she’ll still catwalk six years from now and planning to go back to school afterwards.
Passion and dedication words that is not profound but difficult to achieve an advice to all aspiring model wannabe’s by a super model whose never give up and still matures to her craft.
