An annual event, Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incorporated (BPCI) a non-stock, non-profit organization founded by its chair, Stella Márquez de Araneta and committee search for beautiful faces all over the country to represent the Philippines in other countries in pageants such as the Binibining Pilipinas – Tourism, Bb. Pilipinas – International and Bb. Pilipinas – Universe.

Amongst all the beautiful faces who gathered last April 10, at the Araneta Coliseum a native from General Santos City tops all the aspiring candidates for the crown number 26  Shamcey Gurrea Supsup.

 Supsup graduated with flying colors before joining the pageant as a Magna Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines-Diliman with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Architecture. She also topped the Architecture board in July 2010 -a clear indicator of beauty and brains.

Aside from winning the Bb. Pilinas – Universe crown she also bagged the following special awards such as: Best in Talent, Miss PAL, and Miss Cream Silk.

 Last year's 1st runner-up, Dianne Necio (No. 33), returned this year and won the Bb. Pilipinas-International title; while Isabella Manjon (No. 25) was adjudged Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism (a replacement to the Bb. Pilipinas-World title, which has its own franchise).

Exposures on-air made her a celebrity as she judges contestants from Showtime alongside with other celebrity judges.

At the Miss Universe 2011 pageant in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011, Shamcey placed 3rd Runner-Up. She placed 1st over-all in fan voting, 2nd in the swimsuit competition and 2nd in the question and answer portion.

Although she did not get to be named Miss Universe, Shamcey became a winner in every Filipino's heart.
