This is the first time that Dragon Boat was introduced not only in Lanao del Sur and ARMM but in Mindanao. Adding a little touch of the Maranao culture, the Organizers of this event conceptualized this event as a traditional boat race just like the same in Thailand known as Swan Boat Racing. In Lanao, the team carries the flagship of the Maranao calling it the Sarimanok Boat hoping someday that we earn recognition internationally.(pictures by Richel V. Umel)
