If you want an extraordinary underground adventure, don’t look far. Samar has more to offer.
Samar has the 2nd largest Karst Cave in the world and the Longest Cave System in Southeast Asia, the Langun- Gobingob Caves.
To experience the hype, you have to spend an hour trek from the Calbiga Bridge, the jump-off point, to the entrance of the cave.
You will be awed to see various chambers of stalactites and stalagmites of calcite and limestone and muddy areas, to the way up climbing against boulders and down the caves’ subterranean world.
The caves are also teeming with bats that routinely form a large assemblage at the exit of the caves, cave spiders, blind fish and white crabs (no eyes), white shrimp, cave crickets, snakes, centipedes and beetles feasting on guano manure.
The whole adventure will last for 3 days and 2 nights.
There are also caves that you should visit, the Talubagnan Cave in Borongan City, Eastern Samar; Sohoton Cave in Basey, Samar; Tinago-an Cave in Calbayog City; Guinogo-an Cave in Calbayog City; Guimit Cave in Talalora, Samar; Bugasan and Kapigtan Caves in Basey, Samar; Panhulugan Cave 1 and 2 in Basey, Samar; Jiabong Cave in Jiabong, Samar.
