The San Sebastian Cathedral of Bacolod City was built in 1876. It was originally a small chapel.
The present structure was constructed and inaugurated on January 20, 1882. It became a cathedral in 1933 and is one of the century-old churches found in Negros Occidental. During the 100th year anniversary of the cathedral, the centennial bells of San Sebastian Cathedral were brought down from the belfry and mounted on the right side of the church ground. You will also find the Palacio Episcopal, the bishop's palace and the seat of the diocese of the province, inside the grounds.
A history marker was placed by the Philippine Historical Committee (1952) is found in the cathedral, it states that:

Originally a church founded by Bishop Mariano Cuartero, O.P.
Cornerstorne laid, 27 April 1876.
Inaugurated, 20 January 1882.
Fray Mauricio Ferrero, first Parish Priest.
Became a Cathedral, 23 June 1933.
Repaired and improved, 1936, by Msgr. Casimiro M. Lladoc, D.D., first Bishop, 1933-1951.

How to Get There
From Manila, you can fly to Bacolod (Php2500++, round trip, 45 minutes). From Bacolod-Silay Airport, you can take a shuttle (Php75-100 per head), or a cab (minimum of Php400) and ask to be dropped off at your destination.
